I asked myself that very question when I was contemplating the assemblage of this wondrous photo frame.
At the time I honestly wasn't sure if something like this would be too much, even for me. Very uncertain of the outcome, I just decided to go with it and see what evolved. It was part of an exceptional workshop that I participated in presented by a friend and mentor, Brenda Sue Lansdowne of BSueBoutiques.com, that centered around the use of an epoxy clay product for jewelry making. A frame or something other than jewelry was an optional bonus project. I am really glad I did it. This frame was so much fun to create! Taking all of this pretty, mostly broken, some vintage - some not, jewelry pieces and parts, I was able to create a very special keepsake that holds something so close to my heart, a card from my nearest and dearest friend by one of my favorite artists. It was also an opportunity give new life and purpose to these otherwise discarded jewelry components, which is integral to my brand mission. It also reinforced a perspective for me that I should always push beyond my doubts and fears, from the simplest of tasks to the most personal and complicated issues I face. I have found that when I am brave enough to do so I am always rewarded in some way, shape or form. This time for me the reward is pure joy and a beautiful heirloom! Preconceived notions and opinions will most likely always hold you back if you let them. I say push them aside and take a road less traveled, even if just once in awhile to see where it takes you. Remind yourself daily to show up in the best way you can, when you can, and you will always prevail.
Wait until you see the new jewelry that I created using this new medium, honing in on my new skills. It's pretty awesome, even if I must say so myself.
