Past, Present, Future . . .

These are three words that I use often when talking about my jewelry, my story, my message & my inspiration.

I've been quiet for a bit as I was away for most of September; now I am back.

I had the amazing opportunity to participate, safely in person with my jewelry, in a runway fashion show that opened New York Fashion Week last month.  I am looking forward to sharing this experience with you in future posts.

In this post I want to highlight & celebrate these words past, present, future & the release of a new book “Making It 1928” written by Brenda Sue Lansdowne.

It’s a story about the history of The 1928 Jewelry Company, a jewelry brand that began back in the early 70’s.   It provides the details & series of events as they occurred through the years, how they were successful & how things would always manage to fall into place.  As a result they grew to become a multi-million dollar fashion jewelry company and the1928 brand that most of us are familiar with or have at least seen or heard of.

There are lots of photos of vintage ad copy, jewelry, design layouts, finished pieces, people & much more.  It’s a great story of how this business came to be & how they continue to be a major presence in the fashion jewelry industry today.

What is most  significant to me in reading this book is that it is a story of kindred spirits from the beginning & throughout its history. It's about determination, collaboration, loyalty & respect in the workplace & in life.  It’s a heartwarming account of friendships & family that continue to this day. It’s a fairytale come true of a perfect plan orchestrated by a higher power.  It’s the story of human experience, a love story, a perfect recipe for success. How fortunate they are to have experienced this journey & how proud they must be of their accomplishments. Now their story is documented for history & in beautiful copy for all to share.

It's evidence to me that if you stay true to yourself, follow your dream & continue to do what lights you up & brings you joy, through good times & bad, you can have success in whatever measure you choose to attain.

I could feel the heart & soul in the Brenda's words & her emotional connection.  I truly appreciate how this story has inspired & benefited me as a jewelry artist but really, it’s a great book for anyone who likes a good story.

The legacy of 1928 jewelry continues with the addition of an exclusive line of pewter jewelry components created from vintage 1928 molds made exclusively by them for B'Sue by1928.

I love this line & use it in many of my original, one of a kind jewelry designs.

Brenda Sue Lansdowne is a friend, teacher, mentor & now author!  She also is a jewelry designer in her own right & the owner of B’Sue Boutiques, a wonderful, generous, family-owned, on-line jewelry supply website.

Stay tuned for fashion show fun coming soon!

With timeless jewelry that’s always in fashion -

Suzanne
