Sometimes it’s just something simple that can spark a bit of joy in our day.
It’s early spring and my miniature lilac tree is blooming with abundant, fragrant blossoms.
I remember when I planted this tree. It was years ago, shortly after I moved into my home. It continues to amaze me every year with its abundant, fragrant blooms. In fact, I cut a bunch of lilacs this past Monday and they are still fresh and fragrant days later! It's incredible how something so simple can bring so much joy.
Lilacs are not only beautiful and fragrant, but they also have a rich history. They are extremely hardy and can survive for more than 100 years.
Lilacs are early bloomers which definitely makes them a welcome sign that Spring is upon us.
They are so are popular because of their strong scent, commonly used in soaps, perfumes, and other personal and household products.
In some cultures, lilacs are even believed to be magical because of their sweet scent. During the Victorian period, lilacs were considered a symbol of old love.
Did you know that lilacs come in a variety of colors and each color has its own meaning? My purple lilacs symbolize spirituality. I love that!
So, the next time you need a little pick-me-up, take a moment to appreciate the simple things around you. All you have to do is walk out your door or look out your window because at this time of the year there's always something simple in nature that will catch your eye and bring a smile to your face.
